This was my 2nd trip to wal mart all this year. Whenever i go, I always find stuff I need and blow money!
I really needed some office supplies and we do not have an office supply place in this town. I needed columnar paper, for a while I thought they had quit making it. I also needed invoice books and my husband need the car washing stuff he loves.
Of course, they had charcoal on sale, deodrant and hair conditioner are always cheaper.
I wanted some pyrex dishes with lids for dh lunch. I really needed some comfy slippers as my moccasins are totally worn out. A few little groceries and I walked out of the store $54.04 poorer. I am going to take the slippers back (not comfy at home) and one of the pyrex dishes is probably too big, so I will get that total under $40.
Good thing I don't shop much. Everyone wants wal mart to come to our town, I don't know, I think I would be there eveyday!!

I talked to the nice lady that is doing a show on the book, "Good deals and geat adventures that you absolutely can't get unless you are over 50"
I wasn't much help to her, cause I live in the boondocks. The closest mall is a 4 hour trip, round trip. I have not been in years!
We have to drive to another state to go to wal mart and to buy liquor.
We are a dry county, so we have no chain restaurants, like Ruby Tuesdays or TGIF.
I love living here. I am not a shopper.
If I need some jeans, I order from QVC. Sure they charge me shipping, but how much does it cost to drive over 200 miles to buy something. I figure about $27 for my car, a half tank!
I need to go and borrow the book from the library. I am sure there are a lot of good deals in the book, but the best deal I think I have already figured out.
I just eat out locally where I can brown bag and not pay for drinks.
I just buy something when I really need it.
I don't spend much money, I try and save it instead.

On July 25th, they had a christmas in July sale on QVC. They had lots of ourdoor decorations that I drooled over, but did not order.
But, I did cave in and ordered home made christmas cards, with envelopes, in a gift box.
The last 3 items I ordered from QVC, I sent back.
I stuck the box away when it came and forgot about it.
Today, I opened it. Oh my gosh, those are the cutest cards I have ever seen. I am going to have a hard time parting with them. They are beautiful!!
I usually have the picture christmas cards made, but these are so much neater looking!!!
I got 46 cards plus the box for $23 plus shipping and handling! I really think they are worth the price.

I had a colonoscopy done in June. I got the bill last month and paid it, $917.00
Today I got anothe bill for $125.00. I called the hospital and found it was a charge they neglected to add to the first bill. I still owe $350 to the doctor and $500 to the pathologist.
Well, as thrifty ray said, I just need to look on the bright side of things. So I will! The bright side is that I have the money to pay all the bills! But for that much money, I think they should have sent me back my polyps in a jar!!

I got bored today, so i went to town. I really had nothing to go for, just bored from staying home two nights in a row.So i wasted gas and went to town, spent $10 on candy and lipstick. I also got 2 new t shirts for that $10 also, they were on sale for $2 each.
My husband ruins all his shirts because of his work, so he always needs new t shirts. I will stick them away for christmas.

Holly is off getting her grooming done today. I take her in about every 6 weeks. It is something I could cut way down on to save money. It is $32 to have her bathed and groomed. DH and I have not paid anyone to do anything to our hair in over 20 years!!
But she does sleep in our bed and is always on the white couch sleeping, so I do want her clean. I know I could bathe her myself, but no way would she let me clip her! She won't even let me look at her feet. Guess i will just have to sacrifice something else to have a pretty dog!(she is a 5 pound poodle)

I messed up my glasses today, the little comfort things that go behind your ear, one came off and in trying to put it back on, I punched a hole in it.
Lucky for me, i can buy glasses anywhere, but these had been so comfortable and I have had them for about 5 years.
I went to the drug store and got a new pair, but I already know they are heavier, don't fit as well, etc.
I got a good deal with the 5 years on my $5 glasses! Wish I remembered where I bought them!

I just got all my bills from my colonoscopy; $919 for the hospital, $350 for the doctor and $500 for the guy that looks at the tissues. That is almost $1800. I don't have insurance, so i will pay it all. My husband is supposed to have one in two weeks, maybe we should cancel his for a while!!

I am going out to lunch today with a new friend. Usually when I meet my girlfriend for lunch, we go to burgerking or wendy's where I can eat for about $2. (I drink water)
But this is a new person, i have ony met once, and she suggested we meet for lunch, so I picked some place nice. I know lunch will cost me about $7, so with tip, I will blow about $10.
I feel kind of bad about this, but there is nothing I can do, short of sit there and not eat. I won't do that! (I would if they had nothing I liked but that is not the case)

Looks like we are going to get a wal mart in our area. I am not too sure if this makes me happy. Our closest wal mart is over 25 miles away, one way. I only go about 3 times a year, cause I spend too much when i go. I know things are cheaper.
But I am afraid I will be tempted to go there almost every day, it is only going to be built about 3 miles away!!

That is my downfall. I watch tv when I walk on my treadmill. Since there is nothing I really like to watch, I tend to turn on QVC and Home Shopping. I just ordered a really cute solar powered butterfly to put out on the deck over the creek! Bad , Bad!!

I bought my first christmas present today, two pair of jeans for dh. He has been needing them for a while, but I just haven't ordered them.
Now he is wearing shorts, so I will give them to him for christmas.
I usually get his jeans at Walmart, but the last time we looked they had none his size and his inseam.
He has lost almost 40 pounds and has a 34 inch waist. For some reason, I can't find them with a 29 inch inseam.
So I ordered from Penny's, but they were on sale for $22.
It is so hard to buy for christmas any more because there is nothing we need. (Food is a favorite present)

I always play the tv behind me when I am on the computer. This morning, the news was gruesome, so I switched to Home shopping network. Immediately a cuff watch caught my eye.
You see, I grew up with watches that you wind. (I still have one, but it does not work)
I have 10 other watches that I like, but the batteries are all dead. Last time we had a battery put in my husband's watch is cost over $20.
Heck, none of my watches cost much more than that.
So I headed to the phone with the HSN number in hand to order that pretty cuff watch. It is only $20 and I don't have a working watch.
I thought it over and came back up here to think of reasons why I don't need that watch!!
I have a clock in several rooms in my house and a real good clock in the car!!
Bt the time I pay shipping and handling, the watch will be closer to $30.
There is a clock on this computer!
How am I doing??

We have had a problem with moles in our yard for years. We finally asked the owner of the local Ace, what to do. He suggested using milky spore to kill the insects in the lawn, that the moles feed on.
So last year, we spent $1000 and spread it on the lawn. We have more moles than ever this year. They stop at our neighbor's yard.
The yard across the street is never taken care of. It looks great. We are frustrated, to say the least.
Wish I had that $1000 back!

I was really hoping we would not spend much money on this four day trip to Florida, but we spent about $400. We stayed for free in a duplex, so that was great, but I bet we spent $200 in gasoline. I forgot that we had to pay for the banquet and that was $60. They had a cash bar, but it was expensive, $7 a drink.
I am use to brown bagging it at home and paying nothing for mixed drinks. We spent about $40 there.
The rest just was spent at visits to Publix. We bought all kinds of neat snacks, some of which melted in the car before we could get them home. (chocolate)

I use to write expenses down when I went on a trip, I guess I still should. I think it has cost me about $60 in gas to drive to Florida. I only spent about $12 for the two of us for breakfast and lunch. I have spent about $35 at Publix, only to realize that some of the stuff is chocolate and it is 100 degrees out and things melt quickly. We spent another $6 out for breakfast today. So far, that is a total of $113. We are staying in a free duplex, so that helps!!

I withdrew $1000 from the vacation account today. I know we won't spend that amount, but I will need it for next week's budget, to make up for 4 days of lost pay.
That is the bad thing about being self employed, you never get a paid vacation or a paid day off.
Wish saving $1000 was as easy as withdrawing $1000!!!

I blew it today and it is all the bank's fault! If they were not closed, I would have cashed today's pay check and paid cash for my purchases.
Instead I put almost $25 worth of stuff on my credit card.
Why is make up so expensive. I need eye liner and the type I like, is $8. Eight dollars, that is terrible. Then I spent $8 more for two eye shadows. I have tried some of the real cheap ones, and they are terrible.
Plus I bought some sugar free candy and other misc.
Ok, I will go and stand in the corner now!! I should just quit wearing make up. Now I know why older women usually don't wear eye liner and eye shadow, we can't see how to put it on!!

Yes, we are definately going to dh class reunion next week. Does it ever make you feel upset about skimping on all the little things. Then something unexpected, like this reunion, comes along, and you have to blow a lot of money.
Oh the reunion won't cost that much, but we have to take off four days from work and travel to Florida.
I do go to my reunion, but I also get about 6 months notice. I already know it will be held in October 2007.
I guess it wouldn't be so bad, but we just went to Florida for 4 days to visit in February. Just griping, thanks for listening!!

Well, I was awfully sick yesterday, but I am feeling better today. I threw up, had chills and diarrhea all day.
We stayed home last night, but both headed to the doctor this morning, cause my husband has had this diarrhea for 6 days.
We got in and out of the doctors, picked up our medicine and spent $90.
Gosh it seems like we have spent a lot on medical the past two months. My husband had two eye appt. and dentist appts. too.

My dh has decided that my car needs new tires, so he ordered them yesterday. Guess the price???
$1500 for a set of 4 tires. I ask if they are gold plated? He says no, they are the same tires that came with the vette, the kind that can never go flat!
Vettes have no spare tire, now I know why. I am still in shock!!

I am going to try and have a frugal day today. Yesterday, was a spend day. I had to make a liquor run to North Carolina. I spent another $8 at the grocery store for milk and dinner tonight. We went out to eat last night, $16 for dinner, then $28 to fill up my gas tank.
Tonight we are staying home and having dinner in, so dh can catch up on the yard work. It rained Sunday, so he went to work instead of cutting the grass.

My husband is a builder and he is licensed in North Carolina, but there is no licensing in Georgia until now.
He has until June to get grandfather in. I have been putting it off because he has to carry $350,000 worth of liability insurance, which I am told will cost thousands of dollars every year, plus the insurance company will look at the "books" every year and charge us for everyone that does anything on the job.
This really has me worried. We have built houses for 22 years with no law suits from anyone working for us. There have been a few accidents, but everyone takes responsibity for their accidents.
You do not have to carry this license in North Carolina.
I think the price of houses will really go up in Georgia because of this.

I was invited to a 50's party last night. Everybody has to dress like the 50's, which means poodle skirts and shirts for the women,
I started checking these out at a site a friend told me about. An outfit will run about $80 before shipping. And that is just my outfit!!
I love to dress up and go to parties, but I hate to spend a fortune on something I will probably never wear again! Any suggestions??

It is a beautiful spring day today. I am trying to stay home more and eat out less, so i went to town and bought a roast. I wound up spending about $10 all together, but we will have leftovers for dh's lunch.
I have my taxes ready to mail, now I have to start another project I have been putting off.
The state of Ga. is requiring all builders to be licensed and we have to jump thru hoops and a lot of paperwork to get grandfathered in.
I have been putting it off because we will now have to spend $4000-$10,000 a year in general liability insurance. Since my husband makes about $50,000 a year, that is a big hunk of our pay. Plus we have been doing this work for 22 years and never had a claim.
oh well, it has to be done!!

I went with dh to the second of his eye dr. appts. We got there and the place was so crowded there was no place to even sit.
We sat for 2 hours and were the last to see the dr. The total bill was $202 but the receptionist told me I could just pay part of that.
My dh asked me why she said that, and I explained to him that there are some people who do not have $202. He finds this hard to believe, that people our age have no money in savings.
I personally could not have slept nights if I did not have at least a few thousand in savings!
I know there are some younger people on here who have barely nothing in savings, and I encourage you to build your savings anyway you can!! Sell something, take a part time job, have a yard sale, do something to build up your savings and save a part of everything you make!

Well, yesterday, I got serious about writing down where I spend my cash. I have no trouble with the budget for my bills, but I know I spend too much cash. Well, my first day was not good.
First I went to Wal marts to buy some hummingbird food and spent $91. Then we went out to eat and spent $20, stopped on the way home for gas and spent $29. That is $140 in just one day. That is NOT good!
I won't be going to Wal Mart for a while. Now I am glad that we don't have one, I would be there everyday. I have to drive to N. Carolina to go to the nearest Wal Mart!!

I just started today tracking my spending, and I already blew $91. I never go to Wal mart because of that, but I need some hummingbird food that only they carry.
When I left there, I had spent $91 on stuff!! I am sure I saved a few cents since things are cheaper, but I still spent $91!!
Well, $30 was for some medicine I would have bought anyway and $10 was for a christmas gift for me, but the rest was kind of blown on stuff I have been wanting, like a new game and a new frying pan.
I will go stand in the corner now.

I am ordering some vitamins. They are cheaper than I can buy them here, and right now they are buy one, get one free. I have to pay for shipping, but it is only $5, so i am still saving money. I am, however, trying something new.
I am on a low carb diet, and have lost a few pounds, but have been stuck at this weight forever.
There is something new out called C-120X that is supposed to block about 50 grams of carbs at a meal high in carbs.
The cost is $19.99 and it says money back guarantee. I know most people do not return things, but I am planning on doing so, if they do not work. I am smart enough to know that most diet products do not work. If they did, we would all be skinny. However, this is a well known vitamin catalog company, so i think I will have no problem getting my money back.
