I gave into temptation!!

April 8th, 2006 at 08:09 pm

Well, I gave into temptation and ordered something from QVC today. I use to order a lot, but I stopped that last year and only order a few things at christmas time. I just don't watch it, anymore.
I have a weekness for jackets. Nothing else was on tv and I turned it on while walking on my treadmill.
I saw the cutest jacket. I turned the tv off, but I had written down the number already.
Finally after about 40 minutes, I ordered it. It was sold out, but stock MAY be come available. (and usually does)
So, I may be getting it anyway. No, I don't need it, I have several jackets.
I will save it for a christmas gift for me if it comes, but now, I am going to go and stand in the corner!!

Eye doctor

April 5th, 2006 at 06:03 pm

It is going to be an expensive month, medically, this month. My dh has an appt. this afternoon with his eye doctor to be tested for glaucoma. Then he has to go back again to the same doctor next week. Then a dentist appointment next week.
Since he has always been self employed, we have never had health insurance. (Well, we did, paid in $90,000 and never got one penny in claims)
So we pay full price for everything. I do put aside $100 a week to help pay for medical expenses.
Other than that, it should be a no spend day except for our usual eating out tonight.

Out of propane !!

March 26th, 2006 at 09:30 pm

Well I checked my propane tank the first part of february and discovered I had about 300 gallons of propane left. I thought I had plenty to last me the rest of the winter.
Thought I would check it out today and to my dismay, I now have less than 5% in my tank and it is going to freeze tonight. Now, they will come up and put propane in on a Sunday for a $50 fee. But I am going to chance it and hope that the propane lasts until tomorrow and that they can bring some tomorrow.
If you don't hear from me, you will know that I have frozen to death in my house!! Just kidding!

Eating Out

March 17th, 2006 at 05:27 pm

I wish I could say I have gotten better at staying home at night and having dinner since I joined this forum.
I haven't. I just don't like staying home and watching tv.
When my husband was younger, he use to work til about 9 pm and we would eat supper after that.
Now he gets home at 6, and I just can't stand to sit down and watch tv.
So, we eat out every night. I have learned a lot since I joined this forum, but I have not yet broken this habit.
Plus, my husband enjoys it too.

Car in, car out!

March 9th, 2006 at 04:05 pm

This has really been a fix me up car week. First we took the new vette in on Tuesday morning to have the bumper repaired and they still have it.
Yesterday my husband sat there for over 2 hours while they aligned his van. Today I had to take him up to a different places to get his tires rotated and the oil changed. It was $80 yesterday, I don't know what today's charges will be.
In the meantime, i have stayed home rather than drive our 28 year old vette. It has no automatic door locks, the radio baretly works, no automatic seats so I can see over the steering wheel and worst of all, No cup holder!! How did people get by without cup holders?

chocolate covered wafers

March 4th, 2006 at 10:34 pm

Boy when I read Flash's blog, I feel bad. I have not eaten a carrot in my life. I just bought some Murray's sugar free choc. covered wafers and they were great. My dh and I are dieting, but only about cutting sugar out of our diets. Wish I had her disipline! One thought though, I did buy the cookies on sale today to try them out.
I also did spend some money besides grocery shopping. I have a friend who is going to walk for breast cancer and she is asking for donations. So I dropped off a check where she was selling girl scout cookies and didn't buy the cookies!! I got the sugar free ones instead.

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to remind everyone that 10 months from today is Christmas. Have you started your shopping yet?

1933 Ford Victoria

February 19th, 2006 at 07:45 pm

It just dawned on me that we have not been out in the 33 ford in quite a while. It has no heat, so we have not driven it lately,
I really wanted to go and see the basement of the house my husband has just started but it is sooo cold out. Not that I keep it that warm in the house, but it beats 30 degrees.
I was looking around the house for something and I came across a few things under the sink that got me to thinking. I find a plastic box of pins, cost $1.59 at roses, never opened and at least 10 years old. A box with a bottle of Avon purfume never opened, probably purchased in Fla. (22 years ago or more)
What if I had saved all the money on stuff that I have bought and never used or just used a little of. Boy, I could have been rich.
I am much better now, but it shows how much money we fritter away in our lifetime.
