Eye doctor

April 5th, 2006 at 05:03 pm

It is going to be an expensive month, medically, this month. My dh has an appt. this afternoon with his eye doctor to be tested for glaucoma. Then he has to go back again to the same doctor next week. Then a dentist appointment next week.
Since he has always been self employed, we have never had health insurance. (Well, we did, paid in $90,000 and never got one penny in claims)
So we pay full price for everything. I do put aside $100 a week to help pay for medical expenses.
Other than that, it should be a no spend day except for our usual eating out tonight.

Ugh...After raising 4 kids, I could not imagine not having health insurance! Zero benefit on a $90,000 investment would make me think twice, however... Thankfully for now, my DH has good insurance through his job.

Being self employed, you have to pay for it yourself. Even with a $5000 deductible and no claims ever, the premium was over $600 a month. After about 15 years, we dropped it.

My husband and I also have a busienss and I have Humana Health Insurance. It is high, but I have a few health issues and without it I would be paying over $1,000.00 a month for meds. You may wish to look into that insurance. It is to scary for me not to have it. I am 52 and my little favorite left overy is feeling a little funny lately!!!! EEEEKKKK!
