I am finally ready to get a new computer. I got mine in 2006, my first. I had never used a computer in my life. When I worked, there were no computers. My computer has been telling me that I need to update my browser for over a year, that support has ended for windows 8.
I am not sure what that means, but I did try and get into a new account at Navy Federal Credit Union and I could not get access because my computer is so old.
Any computer suggestions? Remember, I need something really easy and something I am already use to like my Dell computer with a mouse. (No laptop for me)
I am a great grandmother and am really not into the new modern things. I don't have a cell phone or any other kind of devise. I need something really simple to use and understand.
(Maybe this is what my grandparents went thru when automobiles first came on the scene. My grandmother, on my mother's side , was born in 1873. On my father's side, they were even older than that.)
Suggestions for a new computer??

I hope you are not thinking you need a computer just becus the message on the monitor says you need to update your browser. Your browser is the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox or other program you use to browse the Internet with. You can get a free download online and update it like that. If you don't know how to do it, pay your local computer guy $100 or whatever they charge to come to your home and do it for you, and maybe you'll need to add some memory too.
You might also ask around among your friends and ask them how they like their computer, and if they recommend it, you could even go over and try it out before you commit.

The good news is that you can still get a desktop computer. These days, the computer "box" is sold with the keyboard and mouse and the monitor is sold separately. I bought a larger monitor because as I get older, I can't read the screen as easily.
You will probably want something basic. I recently purchased a Lenovo desktop from Staples on sale for $259.00. It has an Intel i-3 processor, with 4 GB of storage. I bought a 24 inch Samsung monitor to go with it on sale for $100. The new computers come with Windows 10, which takes some adjustment. If you want speakers, they are sold separately as well.
I would look at the ads on-line to become more familiar with the features. Best Buy and Staples are two good sources of information and pricing. Each company will have several desktops and monitors on sale every week.
I would not buy a computer "designed for seniors" shown in an ad. That practically guarantees you will pay too much for an outdated model.
It's free to go to Best Buy and look at all the "toys." Staples does not have much on display.
Hope this helps.
