s/s is always on time

November 26th, 2014 at 07:01 pm

I received my social security check today. It is always on time. When they say the 4th Thursday of the month, that is exactly what they mean. I ask for Vanguard to deposit my check on the 20th of the month, and it did not get there until the 24th. Not complaining, but just happy that the government is on time. I will add it to the $20 challenge.

Prev. total $18,351.00
today 518.00
new total $18,869.00

Getting close to $20,000!

I've been wondering. Why are you getting S/s and pulling money from your Vanguard account, only to send it back into savings? Why didn't you just leave the account alone and let it continue to grow instead of taking money out and depositing it somewhere else?

My Vanguard account is my IRA account. I am required by law to start taking the money out at age 70 1/2. I will be that old in just 6 months, so I decided to start receiving the money now just because I was having some problems with this account. (They informed me last month that my account had been "comprimised" by illegal activity.) I figured that if I gave instructions to have withdrawals from the account ONLY made into my checking account. it would keep anyone else from taking money out of the account. Make sense?
