Fewer christmas cards this year?

December 18th, 2011 at 09:21 pm

Have you noticed receiving fewer Christmas cards this year? I have.
My dh is a licensed builder and we always got lots of cards from the places he does business with, building supply stores, plumbing stores, vinyl siding supplierss, truss companies, etc.
We have gotten exactly one card from one building supply store this year.

I saved a whopping $3 from Bi Lo this afternoon, so I am adding that to the challenge.

Prev. total $20,150.00
today 3.00
new total $20,153.00

I never do Christmas cards - I just don't care for the waste of cards. (Plus, easy to keep in contact with people on Facebook, etc.).

But, you are right. Unless we get a lot of them next week, we didn't seem to get near the usual.

Well ... since I don't send any out, I don't generally tend to get very many. Plus, not all that many places/people have my new address. Smile

It seems that way here too. Of course everyone could be running late on getting them out. I just mailed ours yesterday.

Cards have run about the same as in past years - we are at a pretty low level and have been since 2007. Just family. I haven't gotten any christmas newsletters - thank you, birthday boy.

Hardly any at home and/or at work. By this time last year, we ran out of room to place them in the lobby at work. Don't think that's going to happen this year.

We have received one card this year. I do not send Christmas cards out myself.

Definitely corporate ones are down. We got one from Alaska Airlines (though they usually send cookies, too, and didn't this year) since DH is such a frequent flier. We got one each from two charities that want us to contribute to their free Christmas meals for the homeless. And I've received one Christmas newsletter (though I am expecting two more). Way down this year. I never send them out myself. I always mean to, but never get around to it. The box of cards I bought five years ago is still mostly full.

Sure are less cards. I guess it is a luxury that some people feel they don't need to indulge in. Between cards and postage it can get pricey!
