I took the dog food back!

November 8th, 2011 at 11:27 pm

The vet put our little poodle on a strict diet, Hill's prescription food. Holly hated it and I have been force feeding it to her for 2 months.
Then we tried a purina food made for sensitive tummy. At first she ate it, now she won't. She has always been such a picky eater. I don't know what to do. Today, I let her have some of her old food. I can't stand to see her starve.

I took the Hill's diet food back to the vet and they gave me my money back. That is $32 I will add to the $20 challenge.

Prev. total $18,735.00
today 32.00
new total $18,767.00

I have taken dog food back too. There is a label called solid gold that my friend swears by. Her dog has all sorts of skin and stomach issues due to allergies. Apparently lamb and salmon work best.

What has she been diagnosed with? Does your vet think she has a food intolerance? Royal Canin's Duck and Potato might be worth a try or Avoderm or Purina's Kangaroo and Oat. If it's just a sensitive tummy maybe Royal Canin's Gastrointestinal Low Fat formula or Hill's I/D. Have you thought about home cooking for her? Can be quite a project, but might be worthwhile.

I worked with a lady who bought her dog cheeseburgers from really good restaurants. The dog only ate people food. Maybe your dog thinks she's human, which is why she refuses to eat nasty dog food. Let her live out the rest of her life on her terms, eating people food. It is quite evident the vets can't help her...I wouldn't even waste my money on them, only perhaps if you could find a naturopath or chinese acupunturist who treats dogs, you never know how they may be able to end up helping her, in a natural way. One more thing, organic turkey and organic broccli cured Lance Armstrong of his cancer (his mom brought him that in the hospital everyday during his chemo) and look at him now. Good Luck!
