Another visit to the vets

October 28th, 2011 at 06:22 pm

I took my older dog, Holly back to the vets today. I took her to a specialist 2 months ago and he put her strickly on Hill's prescription diet, nothing else.

Well, she hates it and won't eat it , so I have been force feeding it to her. She is so skinny now, but is so hungry all the time. I have spend a lot of money on her the past few months, but she is certainly worth it. We are going to try a different type of food, but I can only buy it at a vet's over in North Carolina. I will get some next week and hope she likes it better. (she has always been a real picky eater)
I got my usual s/s check yesterday and will add that to my $20 challenge.

Prev. total $18,237.00
today 486.00
new total $18,723.00

Poor you and poor Holly. Hope she LOVES her new food.

We use Royal Canin Hypoallergenic HP at work instead of Z/D, however it only comes in dry. It does come in small breed kibble size. We also recommend the Royal Canin Hypo. Duck and Potato. I know there is a Purina Veterinary diet called HA, but don't know any more about it.
You can order food online and have it shipped to your house or if it's one of the above brands your vet might be able to have it shipped to your door thru Proxy (if they use MWI as a supplier).
Just trying to be helpful. Good luck with everything. Smile

Oh, sorry to hear you're having trouble with Holly. Force feeding is no fun. So physically and emotionally draining. Definitely worth it! Smile

It's hard when pets get older because the age can lead to them being so finicky about what they will or will not eat! I hope that you are able to have some insurance of finding a food that will work with her palate, and keep her healthy... poor pup!
