The creek is full!

February 5th, 2011 at 08:15 pm

We had snow Thursday night that turned into rain and it rained all day yesterday. So, today the creek is very full. I love living on a creek.
When I lived in Florida, I had never even seen a creek. I saw one for the first time when I went to Gatlinburg, Tn.
When we decided to move to the mountains, I wanted to be on "water" We first built a house on the Toccoa river near Blue Ridge. I loved that river. It was fun to watch people tube and canoe by the house. There were no restrictions back then, so we were almost on top of the river.
Now, I live on a very nice big creek and I enjoy the noisy water flowing by. It is especially noisy when it is so full, like it is now. My husband built a deck over the creek and I am looking forward to spring time and listening to the creek.

I got a pinecone check for $3 and am adding $4 in ones to my challenge.

Prev. total $1737.00
today 7.00
new total $1744.00

How nice! Do you have rhododendrons along your creek? As I was shoveling snow today, I was throwing it up around my rhodos to insulate them from any harsher cold coming. And I was imagining rhodos in the wild along an Appalachian creek with ice similarly hanging on their leaves. Maybe I was imagining your yard!

Your creek sounds lovely!!! How nice your DH built a deck there. You will have a wonderful spring!! I also love that part of the country. My parents family was from Tennessee.

I love listening to the water too.

I have tried and tried to get on pinecone, with no luck....

Does your creek ever overflow its banks?

I grew up by a creek - many near floods - and my aunt's house flooded MANY times by a creek so I have no desire to live by water again. But it is nice, otherwise. Big Grin
It sounds like you haven't had those problems over the years.

Yes, we do have some rhodos by the creek, wild ones. Only once in 15 years has the creek come up into the yard, but it never made it to the house.

You must have a spectacular view and it sounds so relaxing. Creeks have such soothing sounds. Enjoy it because I know you're looking forward to Spring.
