Happy Birthday to the King !!

January 8th, 2011 at 08:26 pm

I heard someone say on the radio yesterday that America has had 44 presidents but only one king. Today is Elvis' birthday, the King of rock and roll.
I have the xm radio on my new car and it has an Elvis only station.
People always know my car. It is a red corvette with and Elvis throw in the hatch and an elvis statue standing on the throw blanket. When you turn on the radio, you hear Elvis singing.
I also have an Elvis bedroom. I saw him in concert on Feb. 15th, 1977. I still have my ticket stub!

I am adding my extra ones to my challenge money, $2.

Prev. total $$597.00
today 2.00
new total $599.00

Have you visited Graceland and/or Sun Studios in Memphis?

Happy birthday E!! The song I played to my belly for AA before she was born was "C'mon Everbody" by Elvis from the Viva Las Vegas soundtrack! Smile

I saw the title and knew it was you! My middle daughter stopped in Graceland when she drove cross country from Reno to South Carolina last year. She has no memory of Elvis of course, but stopped because she was so close. She thought it was very interesting. Julie, I think it is time to plan a trip!

Julie, You need to go as you will love it! My oldest son lives in Nashville and we have visited Graceland not once, but twice! The house is absolutely fascinating and surprising in its modesty. By today's standards it is small and not all that luxurious, but the King lived there which is pretty special. When you're walking through the rooms, you can almost imagine him there...almost smell those fried peanut butter sandwiches! Very neat place!! Also, as we were walking through I was reminded about how really unhappy he was in the end with all the alcohol and drugs...even when you have everything materially, it doesn't guarantee happiness.
