Christmas wrapping

November 19th, 2009 at 10:35 pm

Since I put up my christmas tree so early, (it came in in October and I wanted to see if I liked it enough to keep it) I decided to put some presents in front of it today.
About three years ago, I made a great purchase at QVC. For about $25 I bought a selection of beautiful christmas gift bags with tissue paper.
Since it is just dh and I (I sent the granddaughters checks), we re use the bags over and over each year.
So, in just a matter of a few minutes, I got about 10 gifts assembled and under the tree. (We don't give expensive gifts, just things like shirts, socks, good stuff to pig out on, etc.)

Ho Ho HO!!

Ahhh Julie...you and I would get along WELL at Christmas...I believe in being festive just as soon as you can...the rest of my household...not so much. I would LOVE to put up a tree now...but we are in heavy debate over real (them) or artificial (me)...and so far Im outnumbered. Frown Enjoy your tree!!!

Six years ago I put up the tree for Thanksgiving and called it the "Thanksgiving Tree". I made paper turkey ornaments and everyone who came for Thanksgiving wrote what they were thankful for and we hung them on the tree. Since then it has become a beloved tradition that my boys think all households do. We have pine cone chains and berries and ornaments my mom made and those crazy little turkey decorations kids come home from school with. It's great! And then at the end of Thanksgiving, my Christmas tree is already up. ;o)

Also about the bags, that's a great idea. Last year I bought a bunch of cloth napkins and other Christmas linens on clearance after the season. This year I plan to wrap what I can with these items and recycle them year after year. It's green and I don't have to waste money on paper.

I love the gift bag idea. We reuse all our gift bags, but not within our house, and it's funny to see old ones sometimes return to us a year or two later.

One of those womens magazines had a time saving tip of wrapping presents as soon as you buy them so you don't have to do a marathon wrapping session. I kind of liked that idea so have been doing a little of that this year. It does allow me to enjoy the wrapping part a little more.

    Merry Christmas!
