Foreclosures are really bad here.

November 7th, 2009 at 09:16 pm

How are foreclosures in your area? They are really bad here in this small town. We only have a weekly paper, but it is full of foreclosures every week. Sadly, I recognize a lot of the names. The biggest real estate brokerage house in town is even being foreclosed on. It once had over 50 employees. This has been going on for over a year, I don't see any signs of anything getting any better. I just wonder how your area is doing?

I don't know about foreclosures, as I don't take the paper here in my small town. However, I see LOTS of grown men walking the streets during the weekdays, and lots more people walking everywhere generally. This is not exercise walking, this is, I'm going to the store/postoffice/dentist and not driving my vehicle type walking or just aimless walking, but clearly they aren't in exercise mode.

FYI, in the ten years I've lived here, grown men rambling the roadways is a weird sight. This is happening in my rural neighborhood and there are about 6 men in the general vicinity including Hubster THAT I KNOW OF who are currently unemployed. It's a strange kind of phenom. Rather spooky to boot.

I know there are probably lots of women here also unemployed, but I haven't seen or heard of them.

I think Seattle is about 12-18 month behind you in Georgia as far as real estate is concerned. We are starting to get the foreclosures, but not in a torrent yet. Every block, though, has a minimum of 2 store closures, and its a rare bit of construction that is still going on.

Like Lux, though, amongst my circle its the men who are unemployed and the women who are still employed. Its a spooky, gender specific neutron bomb.

Baselle, my sister lives in King County and says just a few miles away in Pierce County the prices have really dropped. They are considering putting their King County house on the market and moving to Pierce (it is closer to their grandchildren too!).

Same here with men losing their jobs. In fact, in my husband's family the only men with jobs (3 out of 6)are the men who own businesses (including my own husband).

i live in king county and haven't noticed much of a drop off - even while house hunting a couple months back. i don't think seattle will experience the same dip that the rest of the country has and will therefore be quicker to rebound.

It is bad here, too- repos and foreclosures, and they are very sad, to say the least. I pray for my community every morning when I get up and every evening when I go to bed.
