Savings rates are going up.

I heard on the news that the savings rate is finally going up after more than 20 years. People are finally saving again. I remember when my parents saved and paid cash when they wanted to buy something new. What a concept!!

    Actually, the personal savings rate has been up for a while now. What you heard was that last month, it was the highest it has been in 15 years.

    I think that I single-handedly changed the stats! I went from spending $27,000 more than I made per year (if you count my mortgage and average my debt over the 10 years I was independent before I got smart) with no savings, to saving a couple thousand per year and living within my means. That's already a $29,000 improvement for one person! Smile
