Where are all the $20 challenge people?

March 21st, 2009 at 03:02 pm

Who else is in the $20 challenge with me? I have started on my 3rd year doing this $20 challenge. I find it a fun way to save a few dollars every day and keep a running total.
Oh, I always saved money out of paychecks before, but I never kept track of the small sums I am saving. Now, when I use a coupon on get a sale using my advantage card, I put the cash into my $20 challenge. The same goes for not using any gas that day, doing surveys, unexpected checks in the mail, rebates, discounts, the stock market going up and even when the braves win a game.
Small sums do add up. I know I have saved an additional $20,000 plus for each year I have been doing the challenge.
I know that is not possible for many of you, but anything extra saved is good.
Come on, I challenge you. It is the first full day of spring. Spring into the $20 challenge with me!!

Hi Ima! I'm still interested and wanting to get on it for this year. I've just been caught up with other little side projects myself, such as that 401(K) thing, and now trying to re-build my emergency fund. But yeah, I'm still interested anyway, just haven't written about it yet.

I'm here. I am calling my challenge the Conference Challenge because I am saving money to go to a conference in June. My balance is $1699.49. I will get reimbursed for a lot of my expenses and plan on dumping a lot into savings to bring the balance to $1000, then getting rid of at least 1 other debt.

I was in the challenge and feel bad because I can no longer participate since I am not working
    Good luck every one

Oh, I'm here, but, my $20 challenge were translations, which now have turned into a full-fledged second income (I bet I can match my annual salary with it this year!) unless I start trying to sell crafts, or, as sis wants, establishing Issa Pasta... I don't dare call my translations the $20 challenge anymore!
hmmmm....perhaps I could change the rules for myself and make a challenge out of finding ways to save $20 each month??

I began the $20 Challenge on Sep. 18, 2008 last year after reading your entire blog. I had to raid it twice, right after I started, but since Xmas, it has grown to just over $1200 and my new raise hit my paycheck this past Thursday so an extra $52 every two weeks is going into the challenge. I take my queue from you, I put my coupon savings into the challenge as well as any extra money that comes into my life. Since October, when I started my new job, I have saved $4111 (including the challenge.) I have money a side for a car emergency fund and I am now saving to pay cash for a new car; while I wont be getting a 'vette, I have my eye one a basic Aveo or Hyundai ... until then, I am saving one penny at a time. Thanks for your inspiration Ima!
