A new forum

July 25th, 2008 at 06:44 pm

I have mentioned several times that I am on a local forum in my little town. The problem with that, there always seems to be troublemakers.
It is strange that this forum, does not seem to have much of a problem with that.

So yesterday, one of the computer savy gals started a new forum for us locals and it was by invitation only. It is so nice to be among like minded friends on this forum. Not only that, but we try to get together several times a year at both lunches and parties. We had a cookout last month and a 4th of July party.

I have gotten a little behind on my challenge money. The braves won Wednesday night and the stock market went up, so that is $2 more to the challenge.
Prev. total $18,864.00
today 2.00
new total $18,866.00

I am glad you are among friends at a new site. It sucks when you feel you have to 'censor' yourself because you are afraid of other forum members getting on your back about something.
For me, I also like how this forum is so big and anyminous (sp?)and that allows me to post freely...I dont know if I would want to 'meet' any of you guys though, then I would lose my ability to post without censorship.
Maybe when it is a local site you cant help but find out whos who and that adds 'that extra something' to the forum that makes it special.

I am very grateful for our moderators on this site. They do a wonderful job maintaining this site and actually do something about troublemakers that gets on this site.

Yes, it is quite the wonder that this community has been this friendly for so long. It's a rarity out here in internet-land.

You're loved on this forum Julie because we admire your common sense. Your long devotion to saving has proved you don't have to start w/a lot of $$$$$ to end up w/a lot of $$$.
I agree w/gamecock43 re:not wanting to meet some people here in real time because their values seem so twisted to me. But 99% of the posters here are cool.

I would love to meet 99% of the posters on this site too. Once in a while we have a problem person, but they don't seem to last too long!

Ima~ this has nothing to do with your post, just a general question for you. Do you live anywhere near Macon GA? That town/city? was recommended for me to check out because baseball boy and I love Savannah's residential/commericial historic feel but is out of our price range. Since I live in MN currently, it would be hard to get down there and see what kind of city it is.

No, I do not live near Macon, it is about 3-4 hours away. I live in blairsville, Ga. up in the mountains, near North Carolina. I have been thru Macon and found it a very depressing city, but this was over 20 years ago.
