Doom and gloom!

May 8th, 2008 at 01:33 pm

That is all I hear on tv lately, doom and gloom. I know gas and food prices are up, but as a life long saver, that has not affected my life too much. I have decided to just BE HAPPY!
The stock market was up on Tuesday and the braves won their last two games, so I will add $3 to my challenge money.
Prev. total $9019.00
today 3.00
new total $9022.00

Boy, I'm with you on that! We are having our first big family every vacation in two weeks - driving to Disney/FL from the Midwest. The response from most is, "Oh, I bet your sorry that your driving down there, with the price of gas what it is!" We first thought about renting an RV so my gas budget calculations were based on that fact rather than just a minivan. I didn't budge those numbers, so I'm feeling very happy that I have the funds to cover! I've been a negative one lately, but I think I
ve turned that corner and will join you in the arena of HAPPINESS.

We, too, are vacationing this summer (for the first time ever!). I'm just putting away all of the money I earn from babysitting and tutoring to pay for it. I am preparing so I shall not fear when I turn on the tv ;o)

    Happy, happy... joy, joy.

Sometimes I just turn the TV off and put on uplifting music or destressing tapes. Like the above posters, we just drove on our vacation but we had also budgeted the money for gas, tolls, food, theme parks, etc. Once you have a spending plan, you can enjoy your vacation regardless of what is going on. When you are in Orlando, Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista, and surrounding Disney area -you'd never know our economy is having any problems. It's really a very possitive time.

No vacation for us this summer. DF (Dear Fiancee) and I have a move in the not-too-distant future back to his home state of PA. We currently live in IL.

Since the move will come out of our pockets, we're having to save up for it. Not only that but we have to include paying off any remaining balances on level pay/budget level utility bills, cleaning the place we've been renting....and then on the other side, getting utilities turned on, starting internet service, blah, blah, blah.

As for the doom and gloom on the telly, I concur with y'all. In point of fact, it's getting out of hand that turning off the news is the better idea to keep one's sanity. I can't believe I was allowing it to affect me the other day; I felt myself getting depressed. Rolleyes Grrrrrr......
