Clearing out the envelopes

April 23rd, 2008 at 02:57 pm

I sat down this morning and went over all my budget envelopes. My electric bill was under $90, so I had $70 left over for the challenge. Of course, I also had my ridge money and now I have extra money because I have paid my car off, but I continue to fund that envelope. I had several other envelopes that were very over funded, so i took that cash out to put in my challenge money also. It might as well be earning interest even if it is only 2.23%. All in all, I came up with $1335.00 to add to my challenge money. It has been a good day!!
Prev. total $6908.00
today 1335.00
new total $8243.00

Congratulations. That's one way to beat the low interest rates. By adding in money that you normally would have made. Good job Ima.

Hello, I am new to this blog. I'd like to participate if possible. Any way to find a means to make extra money.

I did read the post of what the challenge entails. I do budget using the envelope system, but don't make use of the excess in this way. Maybe I should start?

    Thank you for any inputs.

Yes, I think you should start. Anytime you have excess in your envelope, put it in your challenge money account.

Just thought I'd let you know that I changed my account to reflect my "new" name. The other name is my real one, and of course, the number 58 is my birth year. How do I get the smiley icons?

Thank you; I look forward to some serious savings, and I have to admit that this is a fun way to do it.
