I used to. I stopped that! It is hard sometimes though, because my husband is so judgemental.

I don't, but being single, I don't have anyone to account to with money besides myself. I wonder, will they be doing a survey on what men lie about?

No, I don't lie about money. I'm proud of the way I spend.

I would think the #1 thing women lie about is their age, but i guess not.

Like househopeful, i answer only to myself.

I have to confess that when we used credit cards I would "adjust" the price a little. The flexibility (Hah) of the credit card payment time helped. Now without the cards its honesty all the way. Plus my stress level has dropped immensely.

I had the worst experience with this. It wasn't that I lied about the amount, it was that he didn't care. He never wondered how the rent was getting paid and I could afford to run like I did. I would buy obvious junk, having no where to put it, and it would pile up. Now that he is the earner, he asks. I lay the bills out on so he may read them, then put them in their files. I procede to pay them, according to importance, due date, and then whether or not we have the money to pay it.
Much better system if you ask me.
It is hard to charge on a credit card that is maxed out!

I think something that would help that is if each person had their own spending money to do with what they wanted. I'm not talking about alot of money just a set amount that wouldn't have to be accounted for by the other person. But, for the spender, he or she might not just stop there.

Basically, I do as the above poster. The money is earned, has been budgeted for the week, bills paid, and we discuss if we need to spend that we can decide upon. Sometimes that is the problem. What one person considers a necessity is not the other's necessity.

Well, lying is universal so, let's seeeeee....

Men probably lie more about their height and earnings... but yes, also their spending habits. Please don't forget that statistically, men are a lot more spendy.

There's a famous line that men will tell each other. Maybe women too, but it's something that's always irked me. "It's easier to beg for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission."

Neither of us lied about money or how much something cost but we did have a time where we didn't work as hard as we should to make sure the other person understood the totals.

So where did lying about one's age fall?

i don't lie about how much i spend to my boyfriend and he doesn't to me. we may not be married or have joint finances, but we are honest with each other if we think the other is spending too much money on something. he thinks i spend too much on clothes and i think he spends too much on his cars and rock poster collection. in the end though, we both realise that bills, food, rent, debt and savings come first, and everything else comes out of what is left. if we are serious about something, generally our 'wants' are able to be sacrificed and we are able to talk each other out of buying things if we need too.

i don't know if we are onto a good thing here, but it seems to work!

No, I don't have anyone to lie to about how much I spend since I'm single.
