Young dog in love!!

February 16th, 2008 at 08:11 pm

We have had a problem lately. The neighbor's young, male german shepherd is in love with my 5 pound, female poodle, Holly.
He is here all the time.
We have very low to the floor windows and he follows us from room to room. When I put Holly in the pantry, I went back to find the 150 pound shepherd standing with his front paws on the window ledge staring in at Holly. He was trying to figure out how to get inside. You may have already figured that Holly is in heat!
On the money front, I had a no spend day, no use gas day and I walked over a mile. That is $3 more to add to my challenge money.
Prev. total $2046.00
today 3.00
new total $2049.00

Tell the dog to wait until Spring like all the other animals. I take it you like your neighbors. If my neighbors dog was up on my house, in my window, I would be having words with them.

WE did call them and left a message to please come and get your dog. He is so big and he jumps up on you. He weights more than me too!

In the immortal words of Mr Bob Barker : "Help control the pet population, have your dog or cat, spayed or neutered."

Ugghhh . . . unless you're a breeder, there is NO reason not to have your pet "fixed!".

I agree with you about having your dog spayed. However, when Holly was a puppy, she only weighed one pound when it was time to be spayed. I could not bear the thought of her going under the knife! Don't worry, she is never outside without being on a leash. She will have no puppies even tho she is a purebred with papers.
In my opinion, the shepherd running lose, should be the one to be "fixed" not my inside dog.

I want one of those puppies -- a German Shoodle.

I must say, I agree with Sami. But I also agree that your neighbor's dog should not be all up on your house like that. And even with inside dogs, there still can be an "oops" litter, it happens more often than not. I volunteer at a shelter and see plenty of litters and puppies from people who never meant to have litters... and if you're not planning on breeding, what's the harm in spaying her? Especially for the health benefits and not having to deal with the heat messiness.

IMHO, the only dogs that should be bred are dogs that are show dogs, good examples of the breed.

Not trying to be rude, just adding my 2 cents.

When I was considering having her spayed, I hear about a female puppy that was spayed at the same vet office. Something went wrong and the puppy had to be put to sleep. I would rather lose my right arm then my holly. Don't worry, I have had a black poodle dog for the past 40 years and none of them have ever gotten pregnant. (three of them total)

It's your dog, your choice. I would talk to the neighbor about his dog. That is way too big a dog to be allowing to run loose. Not everyone is as happy to see your dog as some people seem to think.
