Today is black friday but I am not doing any shopping today.
Today is also my birthday. If there is anything good about being my age, it is that I have never had any desire to have all the fancy electronic do dads that everyone else has. I don't even know what they are or what they do??
so, the only store I will hit today will be the grocery store to stock up on soups for my dh's lunches.
We had a very good thanksgiving dinner last night at a friend's house. The only bad problem was that their grandsons were there and they cried almost constantly. So, I had a bit of a headache all night, which is very rare for me.
But the meal was great!!

I'm not into electronics or shopping at all for that matter, so I usually avoid stores today. I never shop for pleasure. I was wondering if you had any advice on how to cope in this world where people try to make you feel bad for not being things that cost what I consider a lot of money. Like whenever anyone at work asks what I did over the weekend or holidays, I don't usually say anything that costs money, like, "I went to a concert," or "I went to the latest jazz club with a cover charge of $10, then paid for a few $7 drinks and an appetizer plate and ended up spending $37 or so dollars." I really just prefer things like renting movies, walks in the park, going to the museum or going to the bookstore. Not things most people find "fun."

We, on the other hand bought a lot of electronics today. Bought a color laser printer for just 90$, hard drive for a very good price (our current one got filled with all our travel photos). And I bought a PSP - not on sale unfortunately, but I lost the one we had, and I with my 3 hour a day commute this is the only thing that keeps me sane. I download TV shows and watch them on the PSP on the train.

So, when I was younger, my main pleasure was sitting out on the deck everynight, watching the toccoa river flow by and have drinks with my darling husband.
It made for a cheap date and allowed us to save a lot of money!!
