He ran out of gas!!

August 21st, 2007 at 01:21 pm

dH headed for work Sat. morning and then I got a call. His van had quit. He had it towed to the repair shop. So he could not work all weekend and on Monday he used my vette all day.
Well, the good news was, the van had just run out of gas. Apparently, the gas gauge is not working correctly. There was no charge except for the towing and our insurance will reimburse us for that.
So, I hope that we have no more problems with that vehicle. It was having a transmission problem, but now that has stopped. Dh doesn't really want a new van. He is even thinking about getting a used pick up truck as a back up. We just don't have another vehicle that makes a good work vehicle. He is a carpenter and has a million tools!

Hehe. That happened to us girls once with a rental (the guage was off and since it wasn't our car we had no idea it was out of gas). The funny thing is we had had problems with the car at the beginning of our trip (drive from Vegas) and the car died a few miles from the airport dropoff in our city. We hollered and complained and got our money back (free ride) since we had car problems twice on us during our trip, and when we told our family the details they all said - "duh - you ran out of gas." I thought we were just dumb kids but it happens - hehe. Wink To our defense they were idiots and we deserved our money back anyway, with all the car problems on the Vegas end, so we weren't surprised the car would just die in the middle of the road, but how embarrasing...

    Glad it was something simple!

What year vette do you have? DH has a '73 and it is a stick shift which I do not know how to drive. I think once the kids are grown and gone I might buy myself one (automatic, of course!) And whenever I give him grief about it (he bought it for $12K (cash - but he needed to borrow $5K from the savings which he never paid back - and as he reminds me it has appreciated to a conservative $25K) It was his one fiscal irresponsible act (I did agree to it)...

Glad that it wasn't more than a gas problem.

WE have a 1978 vette. It is tu toned blue and came in to the dealership in primer. (one of only 16 that year that came in primer) It was then painted two colors of blue which were pontiac colors at the time.
We also have a bright red 2004 vette. My husband wants a new one.
