My dh has finished up the two houses that he has been building.
His next project is a house that needs lots of fixing. It is a brand new house but it is really a mess. He got the outside fixed up and today he is starting on the inside.
Most of the rock had fallen off the fireplace, so I think that is where he is going to start, re rocking the fireplace with new rock.
It is a shame that a buider can do this type of work and get away with it. I hate the fact that he is working somewhere, right now, for someone, in my little town.

I just roll my eyes whenever anyone says buying a new house is a bad move due to shoddy workmanship because with all the old houses we looked at we were GUARANTEED major repairs. With a new house I figure if it is that bad off, you should have some legal recourse. A new house that needs that much work - I'd be making a big stink for sure.
The worst is we had a plumbing problem and we called a plumber and they wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole because the house "may be" under warranty. I assured them it wasn't under warranty and we would sign a waiver, whatever. The builder pretty much warrants nothing after the first year. The house is 5 years old. But in the end we found a handyman and it turns out one of the kids had turned a knob on the toilet or something. But I imagine it is hard to find someone to do repairs on new houses for this reason as well. The plumber just wouldn't even look at it.
They definitely slap them up fast and the workmanship could be better for sure. That is just terrible.

Even with changes... we have the balances.. and being in business.. of course we had our taxes done.. sounds to me that you wanted the house and went on what made you feel better and better about taking it because nothing not even the level comment is true.. he fired the SUBCONTRACTED CREW THAT WAS HIRED IN TO FRAME WHILE HE WORKED ON THE OTHER ONE.. he FIRED THEM..
The original cost of the first house, was for another house than what they got.. it was for less sqft.. and less work.. of course more changes came.. and he didnt go over budget.. they agreed to saving money by hunny not using the blue prints.. in the beginning, it was a different desire than what ended up being.. and that was ok too because they chose what they wanted.. they knew better than we what they wanted and needed..
You have no clue what had taken place.. and the stall was not about workmenship, I GRANT YOU THAT!!.. until yall were hired in..
Which like I said, is fine too.. I had no idea your snide remarks were meant for me on the other forums until the letter came weeks after the emails you sent out that I have a few copies of and the snide remarks in post.. because as far as I knew.. my husband was going to finish the house..
Yall are much better off with it after I read more of your taunts and exaggerating what you want told for what is not the truths.. either you honestly have no clue, or you are enjoying yourself trying to be on top of the world in a dream that is not reality!.. yall chose it.. yall wanted it, you got it.. good luck! I wish you the best..
