Free money order

July 3rd, 2007 at 04:27 pm

Thanks to Disneysteve, I went to my bank to get a money order. (to pay for something I got on ebay) I never knew they were free at the bank. You can get 3 of them per month, for free. I don't use them often, but I always "buy" them at the post office.
So, thanks, Steve! I saved some money.

That works great as long as the ebay seller takes them. I don't. I only take them from Walmart and the U S Post Office. I specify that in my auctions.
I used to take all of them, but then someone sent me a fake one. After it was discovered fake, the bank charged it back to my account plus a $30 fee (which they later refunded after I filled out paperwork with the law enforcement). Of course by then I had already mailed the package out.

I also had fake one once from the post office, but the guy at the post office was able to spot it right then and there, so I didn't mail off the package that time.

Yet another reason I only deal with PayPal!

Ima, I'm not sure that was me but you're welcome if it was.

I agree with mom-from-missouri though, and recommend in the future to only use USPS money orders. There have been many, many problems with counterfeit ones and USPS seems to be immune to the problem.

If you find yourself using ebay on any regular basis in the future, I would absolutely set up a Paypal account.
