frugal lunch out

June 3rd, 2007 at 06:48 pm

My husband took a rare day off. Of course, he has cut the grass, washed the car and drawn on house plans all day.
We decide to splurge on lunch out this afternoon at the waffle house.
We were both pretty frugal, just have a plain waffle each and water. So lunch was under $7.
I bought steak on sale at bi Lo and saved $7 using my bi lo card. They seem to have steak on sale every weekend. I will add that to my challenge money.
Prev. total $11,752.00
today 7.00
new total $11,759.00

I love Waffle House, but have'nt been there for years!
It is hard to find any meat "on sale" any more! Everything has gone up so high!

I haven't been to one in over 20 years, then one moved to our town. I take my own syrup there. I got two N.y. stip steaks for under $8.

I love how you guys save money by not buying drinks when you go out; drinks are the biggest money-makers for the restaurants. We just order water too.

We went to a Waffle House near Disney World and I have never had a better omelet. I think that it was a South Western omellet but it just about melted in your mouth. We try to do the same. Only water. Occassionally, we will have iced tea, but that's rare. We found that the money spent on drinks was so high even though we had ordered an meal that was on special. We couldn't get over the price of the total bill and in the end, alot of it was the drinks.
