I have gotten more frugal

March 10th, 2007 at 01:47 pm

I think I have gotten more frugal since I joined this forum and maybe it is starting to rub off on my husband.
He fixed himself a cup of hot tea this morning. Then he carefully wrapped up the tea bag and took it with him to use again this morning. That is great.

We went and looked at land yesterday after work. The roads are being graded and are pretty bad, so we never got to see the lots on the creek.
They want $175,000 to $195,000 for the creek lots, so it really doesn't matter. I could not afford one anyway.
I sure am glad I bought my two acres on the creek (I live on) when land was much more reasonible.

Do you think that because you read whatever people wrote about being frugal and you also contribute to the forum, that you feel more accountable to your savingadvice friends?

I feel the same Ima Saver. I had become complacent about our finances. I think that I was allowing what others thoughts about my cheapness as they called it influence me. I really wasn't being cheap;I was watching out over what I spent.

I've learned so many new ideas from everyone here and you're amazing Ima Saver with what you think of to do.

For a frugal person there is nothing more than an interesting way to earn money. By that, I mean like earning money doing something that you don't necessarily like to do. If we all just chose a chore or activity that we didn't like and gave it a $1 value to do it, I wonder if that would be incentive enough fo do it?

I do feel more accountable since I have been on this forum. I have always loved saving money, but people thought that was weird. Now, I feel like I am around people who think like I do.
I have done much better with clothes shopping on shows like QVC> I see something cute and I write the number down. Then, I think. I have a closet full of clothes and I don't need anything more.
I did cave last month and ordered at $20 pair of jeans.
However, I have not bought a new pair since 2002 and I have two pairs. One has a grease stain, the other I just got a little white paint on.
That is all I have spent on clothes so far this year.

Those shows are so tempting. It probably would be a good idea to write down the stuff without really buying it. Looking back and being happy that we didn't buy it.

Anymore, I use those shows to learn about the items out there to buy. I learn alot about the computers and capabilities and the TV's. In the futre, should by TV break down, I'll have more knowledge to go out and buy one.

I do not watch shows that tempt. That is my frugal way. Also it saves by not turning on the TV.

That is what I am trying to do, butterfly.
