My bank is in Money!!

My bank, where I keep most of my money, is in Money Magazine!!
Under the list of best places to get a 6 month C.D., my bank is listed 2nd. You can get a 6 month c.d. for 5.43 with a minimum of $10,000. The name of the bank is Appalachian Community Bank.

    That's an intriguing rate, and their Bankrate Safe & Sound is 4-stars (that's good). However, when I checked rates on the Web Site it says only 5.03% APY for a 6-mo CD and I couldn't find a phone number anywhere. Do you know if they have an 800 number to call?

    Well remind me when I have $10k. Wink Seriously though - that is great - give me a couple of years. Actually, do they have IRA Cds? Hmmm, maybe I should look. Sometimes the minimum is lower...

    CalFirst Bank is at 5.3% but I locked in my IRA closer to 5.4% in september. I like it because it is local but I need to save up some big cash to invest in their non-IRA c.d.s too. I think 5.3% is 1-year though. 6 months sounds good when I am ready.

    Just FYI - I finally connected with the person who can help non-locals open a CD and found out that the current rate is down quite a bit (5.17% Rate = 5.31% APY). So, I decided not to get that CD. But THANK YOU for sharing the info!
