colored my hair this morning

February 4th, 2007 at 03:32 pm

I colored my hair first thing this morning. I was born brunette, but always wanted to be blond, so i have been coloring my hair blond for 35 years. I wonder how much money I have saved in the past 35 years for doing my hair myself. I think I should remind my husband how lucky he is, that I am not a high maintence woman!! That has saved him some big bucks!!

so did i, except im only in my late thirties and completly grey- so born brunette now brunette out of a box- i find my colouring my hair a very natural looking medium brown saves me money as i can buy whatever brand is on sale- yes it would be more frugal to go natural but that would be completly grey and i'm not yet 40

I got mine on sale yesterday for only $3.99, sure saves money to do it yourself. I am sure I have lots of gray too.

I colour my hair to cover up the grey. But to be honest I fight with it regardless of who colours (me, a cheap hair place or a ritzy hair salon)

Why do I fight with it. Cause while I colour it brown the colour falls out of my hair after a few weeks leaving me with goldish brassy undertones that peek out. Drives me crazy

But doing it at home is great.

Cheapest way is I've found (other than scoring nearly free deals with sales and coupons) getting the developer and colour at Sally and doing it yourself - with short hair one bottle of colour can last for a couple of applications Smile

While I am more seasoned than all of you I have very little gray hair, you couldn;t even say peppered. Why?, I don't know but it has thinned and is flat it's still brunette. Win a little, lose a little.

I do it in the salon... I'm terrible at doing it at home. I don't dye my hair often because I don't need to. I only dye my hair like once every three years. That's how long it takes my hair to grow out. ._____." It saves me a lot of money because I don't need to cut my hair for awhile too.

that's cool ima... i've never dyed my hair but i'm thinking about trying it... i'm a natural brunette but am curious how i would look with a couple other colors... think i'm going to try copper highlights first as i got a kit at a garage sale for a quarter... the lady bought it and then changed her mind...
i almost never go to a hair place...
i tell my DH he is lucky too... hehe... of course, then i admit we are both lucky... we save a lot of money too... we cut each other's hair... my mom used to work at a salon as a hairdresser so she showed my DH how to cut my hair...

Hehe, yes, he should feel quite lucky indeed that you are not a high-maintenance woman. Um... know anyone like that who's single? If so, please point them my way. Wink Big Grin
