Got my electric bill

January 21st, 2007 at 10:53 pm

I forgot to get my mail yesterday, so just went out to the box to pick it up. My electric bill came. It was slightly under $95. Since I budget $160 a month, that means there is $65 left over to put into my challenge money.
prev. total $1989.00
today 65.00
new total $2054.00

Wow, I'm impressed with an electric bill that low! I wonder what our next one will be. We haven't done the 'unplug everything not in use' thing but we've cut the thermostat way down and have done some other things to try to save on that. It will be interesting to see what results we get.

I budget $200 for electric. But, in the winter time my bill is usually around $85. The rest of the $200 I bugdet for is left in my account for the summer, when our electric bill has been as high as $300. Basically, my bills run around $100 during the non A/C months and $200/$300 during the A/C months...depending on how hot it gets, of course. At the end of the year, what ever is left over goes into our retirement account.

I love getting utility bills that are lower than what I budget! Wow, that's a pretty big difference too!

I got mine too- alomost $90.00- which I didn't think was too bad since I'm constantly turned the thermastat up and down. I am doing the envelope system- I watched a dave Ramsey DVD so have huge goals for this year.
