No restaurants are open

January 2nd, 2007 at 12:05 am

I called my favorite restaurant this afternoon to see if they would be open tonight. They are not, nobody is except the fast food places. Even the mexican restaurant is closed.
Guess I will be fixing dinner at home tonight. Well, there is some more money that I can add to my challenge money.

    Ima,
've noticed that you go to restuarants a lot. Do you just not like to cook or what? To me there's no bigger money drain than eating out! I'd rather eat a PB&J than spend our hard earned $$$$ on restaurant food. Of course, like anyone else I like an occasional night out. But those are rare at our house. There's just too many more important things that we want to spend our money on.
Nothing against you or anything. Heck it's your money!LOL Just curious I guess...

Living in oz: I think Ima eats out for enjoyment and gets her hard working husband to herself for awhile. For me, it's books. I guess we all have our personal luxuries in different ways! I think it is fun to see what others like to do. I know people who think I'm a book nut, but I get a kick out of the crazy thing they love to do.

Well ratfinkus - now I won't get my vicarious thrill out of hearing about your dinner out!!! I do salivate over your getting to go - not exactly jealous, but wishfully remembering those days we used to go so much more often than we get to now!

Living in oz, yes we do go out to eat almost every night. My dh works 7 days a week, so almost every night is date night out for us. We brown bag our own liquor and set ups, sit and have a few drinks and just talk for about 2 hours. We do eat cheaply, our meal is almost always less than $20. Of course, I don't spend much for groceries. It is just our only form of entertainment as we don't do things like movies, concerts, etc.

    Ima,

That's coolSmile That's the nice thing about being frugal...you get to spend the money you saved to do things that you enjoy! I like to dine out too. But, since there are 5 of us(DH, myself, teenage football playing son, teenage daughter, and 8 year old DAUGHTER that is a major athletic tomboy!) eating out is SOOO expensive that there is just no room in our budget for it! However, I do budget enough money each month for one nice sit down meal or a couple cheapo mealsWink Although, 9 time out of 10 that money gets used for an unexpected billFrown Oh well, I guess I can dream about what life will be like when the kiddos are grown and DH and I can have a nice meal out once in a while!

Wow, I couldn't afford to eat out if I had 3 kids either. I know how teenagers eat! We just started this a few years ago.
