What are you doing?

January 1st, 2007 at 02:38 pm

I know New Year's day is a holiday, but I always wondered what every body does on this day? My husband has gone to work and it is just another day for me.
thank goodness the bad weather we had last night is gone and it is a pretty day today.

Over here plotting and scheming on how to catch up to you on the $20 Challenge! You really inspire me!!

Everyone here is crashed out and sleeping except me! Today will just be another day for us - no one here is a football fan or anything so nothing slated in that vein. The Hubster is still off on vacation and will be busy this evening putting up the rest of my new plantation blinds in the windows and taking out the extra slats in the ones he got up yesterday.

Later today I'm calling the antiques store where I have a booth and seeing if she's open - if so I'm going to go collect December's sales money so I can finish out my 2006 books.

Both boys are off so they'll just laz-e-bone around today, sleeping, watching movies, playing video games I imagine. Once the blinds are all up we'll move the rest of the furniture back to it's normal position.

    Nothing all that exciting, eh?

I don't really know that we'll do anything out of the ordinary routine. DH will probably work on getting the kitchen addition wired so we have more lighting there. Depends on how long he sleeps. We stayed up until midnight and then just nicely got to sleep when the pager went off for a fully involved house fire. So he was out until early this morning at that.

I might try to get some cleaning done that I wouldn't normally fit in. Depends on how I feel today.

The kids will enjoy their last day of vacation and DS#2 will get home after being away for a few days.

We're having a pajama day at our house. We are all exhausted from all the holiday-ing and are fighting colds. Yesterday, I told my family, don't invite anyone over because I am not entertaining and I will be in bed, drinking tea, reading, and watching t.v.

I am taking a day to do nothing! Lucky thing we have lots of leftovers...

I have no plans except to finish reading over a contract. It's not too col, so I might do some cleaning of my front porch and back patio, ho-hum. Husband got out of bed, ate some leftover cheese and crackers, then laid down on couch and went back to sleep. Son still sleeping. I don't know if he has plans.

Happy New Year, Julie! We're having my mother over for our traditional dinner of pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and yellow split peas. It's been raining pretty heavily, so no Mummer's parade to watch on tv until next week. I'm just trying to pull the house together while I'm getting the food ready. And hoping the rain slows down so I don't have to worry so much about my mother driving in it.

BTW, after flipping around the tv last night, waiting for midnight, I decided the possum drop would have been more our style than anything I saw. We are definitely not glitzy or hip enough. Wink

    Getting ready for work, mostly.

Well, my parents invited me out for dinner though. Presumably to celebrate the New Year.

My ex and I used to do something for New Years, but that's in the past now.

We slept most of the day as the fireworks kept us up. I understand the ones at midnight, but the ones at one, two, three, four o'clock in the morning? Ugh. Someone did call the police at some point because I saw the shiny pretty lights through my curtain and the loud noises stopped.

We had leftovers for our only meal, as everyone slept through breakfasat and lunch and I started another loaf of bread going in the bread machine. The kids really tore through the one I made last night. I had forgotten how much more they like fresh bread. I may be making a loaf a day.
