Cheap dinner

November 5th, 2006 at 03:17 pm

We had a pretty cheap dinner out last night. DH is coming down with a cold. He is pretty brave with a cold, but sore throats get to him badly. I have never seen anyone with such bad sore throats. He thought he would have to go to the emergency room last night.(what they would do, I don't know?)
Luckily, I write notes on all his medications when he is sick.
In Feb., he went to the dr. with a cold and sore throat and got some pills.
He took one last night and felt a little better.
All he ordered for supper was a big bowl of chicken soup.
I got a small bowl with my meal, and it was really good! Plus, I did not eat much of my dinner, so I have lunches for two days.
A big bowl of ice cream made him feel a little better too.
You don't think he stayed home sick, do you?
Oh no, he is off to work this morning. He is sanding hardwood floor all day (Just like yesterday), so that won't help his throat either. Poor guy!

Hopes he feels better, when ever I get a cold I'll mix honey and lime juice, sip on it throught ou the day. It's and old remedy that actually works

i am a fan of the age-old hot tottie. if it works for my 91 yr old great-grandmother, it's good enough for me! hot tea, honey, lemon, and a splash of whiskey. mmm, sounds good right now and i'm not even sick!

The poor guy. I hope you have lots of icecream for him tonight.

I like Tina swear by the hot toddy (or should I say drift off by ...) - though mine is made without the tea and with brandy rather than whiskey.

Hot toddys and and Vicks Vaporub! The wonderous sleepy feeling when you are trying to get better is unforgetable.

Julie make sure he is wearing his mask while sanding those floors. Sometimes the dust can really irritate your sinuses and throat. I hope he feels better soon! He sounds like a dynamite fella!Smile

I swear by Fisherman's Friend losenges. They taste foul, or at least the original flavor does, but nothing works like it does. Most people don't think to use it, but painkillers like Motrin are great for sore throat pain and help with the inflamation, too. Gargle with warm salt water. As a last resort, crush an asprin, put it into a glass of water and drink.
