Found money

July 9th, 2006 at 01:55 pm

I have been reading how some of you have found change, even bills and I have been jealous cause I have really been looking. All I have found this past 6 months is 1 penny. Yesterday, passing a newspaper stand, I found a dime in the little change cup.
We went out to eat last night, and I told my dh about the dime, just as we were passing another newspaper stand. Low and behold, I stuck my fingers in the change cup and came up with 2 quarters. Maybe my luck is changing!!
I was excited, but dh thought I was nuts!

Always check those change trays! You would be surprised at what people leave behind. I always check at rest areas while traveling.

Gotta look where the coins are. Smile
A lot of times change escapes when you dig your hand in a tight pocket for something else, and a coin or two escapes. If you think of that scenario, you'll have better coin hunting in parking lots (fishing for your car keys), near the wastebasket or the ATM (receipts and bills go in the pocket), quiet bus stop (I once found a 1$ worth of change in the grass around the stop), the bus exit, bathroom floor, the honesty box (where you found some), the payphone...but with cell phones, that'll be going away soon.

Another good place to scavenge for loose change - near drive-thru windows at fast-food restaurants (after hours). People drop all kinds of change at those windows and usually don't bother getting out of their cars to fetch it.
