Dinner at home

July 6th, 2006 at 03:11 pm

We went to Home Depot last night. We had a coupon for 10% off, so we stocked up on items we need for the spec house we are building, saved $143.
I had planned to just go to Wendys for a $5 dinner and put the rest in my challenge money.
However the power went out in town (big storm) so we had to come home. Luckily we had power, so we had an omelete and corn beef hash.
So I have $20 to add to my challenge account.
prev. total $6569.00
today 20.00
new total $6589.00

Hi Julie, I think your blog is great, its very inspirational reading about all that money you are saving! I've been wondering for awhile, is the $6589 real live money or are you just adding up your savings? For instance when you save $20 but not eating out do you actually take $20 and put it into a savings account?

Yes, I actually take the $20 from not eating out, or the $3 I got in grocery savings from sales, etc. and put it in a cash box. That is my challenge money. Bout once a month or so, I take it and add it to my savings account so that I can get a little interest on it!!
