I am over 70, but still feel like I am just 7. I love to go dancing with my wonderful husband of almost 40 years.Since we have never earned a lot of money, we have learned to take care of what we have. We live in the mountains in north georgia in a big beautiful house that my husband build and it is mortgage free. Now I am trying to save so my "younger" husband can retire someday.
I remember celebrating it when I was a kid. My mom would help my sister & I create May Baskets & we would surprise neighbors & friends with them on their front door. Not sure where this tradition came from, but it was a BIG deal in our house. Helped that my parents had a huge garden & tons of flowers this time of year. We were just discussing May baskets this morning over coffee.
We used to make May baskets at school. On the walk home I would leave mine on someone's door knob, ring the bell and run and hide, spying of course, to see their reaction. Nowadays that probably wouldn't be safe.
