Ride in the country

March 31st, 2006 at 08:27 pm

I took a pretty ride in the country today to take our taxes over to H and R block in a town about 25 miles away. There is a back road without too much traffic. It is still pretty, but I think how much this area has changed since they put in a four lane highway. I moved here 22 years ago and there was not even a McDonald's then. I kind of miss the good old days.
I walked for over thirty minutes yesterday, so I can add $1 to my challenge money today.
Prev. total $4532.00
today 1,00
new total $4533.00

Sounds really nice...it is amazing how many rural areas are quickly becoming hot spots. I think there are many who long for the days of old...but they want it sprinkled with familiar conveniences too...

There is not a day that goes by that I am not grateful for living in country..and enjoying a quieter, simpler life. I find more and more reasons NOT to go to town anymore.

I measure how far out I am by the distance to Mc Donalds too.
I moved in Oct because there was one within walking distance........ACK! There was nothing when I moved there in 89, nothing!!! Now, I'm out further & no golden arches in sight!!

We had a population of about 7000 in the whole county when we moved here in 84. Now it is about 19,000. Not big city, but big enough for me. Someone is discovering all these pretty mountains.
