I always stock up on sprite when it is on sale. Sprite zero is our mixer of choice for our evening cocktails, so I got 4-12 packs for $3 each. My grand total on my advantage card was $12 savings which I am adding to my challenge money.

Today is an exciting day. First there is a big car show in town. Dh found his 1933 ford victoria at this show 12 years ago. He is down there looking right now.
At Lunchtime we will go to the Blairsville bash. It is a BIG bar b que party for 800 people. I am honest; I don't like barb que, but I do like desserts and they have hundreds of them!
This afternoon is another car show put on by a different group, down on the town square. (which is actually round) Dh always puts his car in this show. I will probably go with him in his old car so we can go out to dinner afterwards.
This is the last car show until next spring. We don't drive the old car much in the winter cause it has no heat. We also have a big sorgum festival going on this weekend. (sorgum is syrup)

I watched the show on Tuesday and enjoyed it. I was surprised that one of the men on the show is posting on the saving advice forums.
His name is Jeff Yeager and he wrote the book, "Ultimate Cheapskates road map to true riches".
He is the man that found over $7 in change in just one day. It is his hobby. I haven't found $7 in change in my entire life!!
I would like to read his book!

I did my grocery shopping on Tuesday. Using my advantage card I saved a total of $14 to all to the challenge.

My darling husband is coming home tonight. He has been in Florida this week to spend time with his father, who turned 91 on Monday! I sure will be glad to see him and so will the girls! Especially Molly. Everytime she hears a noise in the garage, she thinks it is her daddy!

I lost a dear friend this past weekend! I have known her since we were in homeroom in the 8th grade. We graduated together; then reconnected in our early 30's! She introduced me to the mountains when she and her husband took me and dh to Gatlinburg, Tn.
When I moved up here a few years later, they sold their house and moved here too.
Our class reunion was last Saturday and that is the day she died.
She was a heavy smoker for all these years and she died of lung cancer. If you don' smoke, don't start. If you do smoke, please quit. I know it can be done. I quit cold turkey 20 years ago and did my dh.

We are going to a full sit down dinner party tonight. It is for a friend whose house we built 11 years ago. He was not a friend when we built the house, but he has become my dh's best friend and biggest admirer!!Tonight is his birthday and I always love going to parties over at their house.

Dh bought some paint at home depot over labor day and the maker of the paint was offering a rebate. I signed up for it and received a home depot debit card for $10. I just used it to get $10 worth of free gas. $10 worth of gas is not very much gas, but heck it was free!
I will add that to the challenge money.

It is October 11 and I have not put the heat on yet. It can get quite cold here in the North Georgia mountains. This morning it was 37 degrees. I got my propane tank filled up and paid $1.89 per gallon. What does it run in your neck of the woods? My bill was for $1100.00

I just applied for a rebate from Windstream. I had to buy a new $120 modem on Monday. The rebate ticket states that they will pay me back $50 as a form of statement credit. That's ok. I can take the cash the credit will free up and add it to my challenge when the credit comes thru.

I got interest on my ING account on October. It amounted to $38 which I will add to my challenge money.

I have been gone for the entire fist part of October. My computer would not let me connect to the internet since October 1st. I called a computer tech, but he could not get me back on the internet.
Finally, I called again and was advised to get a new modum. I got that yesterday and now I am back in business. I missed you all!

Today was Chipper Jones' last day to play in a regular game in Atlanta. 20 years with the same team. His parents were there to watch him play.
Chipper and I are from the same area, Volusia county, Florida.

The braves won their last two games and I had a no use gas day today, so $4 more for the challenge.

I am having a very frugal day. First I add $2 to the $20 challenge by having a no use gas day.
I activated a new GM credit card that I got in the mail cause it said it will pay me back 5% on purchases. I then charged my elec bill which I will pay off in full on the card.
I was offered another credit card by my bank that will give me back $150 with ANY purchase! So, I accepted that. I love these free money offers!

It was pretty cool here this morning when I got up, 37 degrees! I have not turned the heat on yet; instead I am wearing long pants and a sweater.
I ordered enough propane to fill up our 1000 gallon tank. I was quoted $2.05 per gallon. What are you paying in your area?

Since there was no bridge today, I did my grocery shopping. Using my Ingles card and 3 coupons, I saved 8 dollars. The braves won their last two games, so a total of $10 to the challenge.

I went to my first bridal shower in over 25 years, yesterday. It seemed kind of strange. They served the food immediately when we got there at 3 pm.
There were several young men there and 10 children under the age of 10. Kind of a family thing, I guess. The shower was for my oldest granddaughter who is getting married in just 2 short weeks! I gave them cash; that is always a handy gift.

My electric bill came in under budget by $30 this month, so I am adding that to the challenge money!

I love weather like this. It is so good for my electric bill!

I took Molly to get groomed yesterday. She groomer said that she cried when she cleaned her ears. I took her back today to the vets; I did not want her to suffer all weekend. Sure enough, it was an ear infection. I got my puppy a shot two weeks ago and she is due for another one the first of the month.
Dogs can be expensive!
The braves won their last game and the stock market went up yesterday; another $2 for the cause!

We spent the day over in North Carolina yesterday. We have bought 7 pieces of property this past year for dh to build spec houses on. One lot was in Hayesville, N.C.
We decided to list it for sale. It is just too far to drive to build a spec house.
We also did the grocery shopping and saved $4 using the aadvantage card. Although the Braves did lose last night, they won their last 4 games; so a total of $8 to add to the $20 challenge.

That is what today is, my bridge day! I love laying bridge. I took lessons a few years ago, and 4 of us decided that we would practice what we learned by playing bridge each Monday afternoon. I have never missedd a session! Do any of you play bridge?

I learned to read when I was 3 by reading comic books to myself. My favorite comic book was "Little Lulu" Does anyone remember her?
In one comic book, Lulu said this poem,
"Hollyhock is very smart,
Knows world history by heart,
Knows about the rising prices,
Knows about the far East crisis;
But all the world looks great to me,
So who is smarter, me or she?"

Isn't it amazing that there was a far east crisis more than 60 years ago? And we still have one! I hope that the next president can solve this problem.
