My brand new heat/ a/c unit has quit working and it is still kind of cold here. I am wearing a sweater and a coat! My a/c man is a big church goer, so I doubt if I will get him out here today.
Also, we had to buy a new battery for the old corvette today too. The garage door man is here to fix the garage door, so it is turning into an expensive day.
The good news is that the braves won again today; their 9th straight game with only one loss.

Since I typed my last post the braves have won another game! Good thing I am not putting away $5 for each win; I would be broke.

The Atlanta braves are doing well! They have won their last 7 games, for a total of 8 wins, 1 loss. They came from behind last night to win in overtime, so I add $1 to the challenge.

I need to go and pick up our income tax forms today. For once, we are getting some money back. The spec house that my husband built did not sell last year. We closed in January. Now, we have another one for sale.

The bradford pear trees are all blooming now and they are so pretty. It is starting to feel like spring.
Had to take dh to the doctor yesterday. He thinks he has gout in his big toe and it is killing him. He got some pills, but they have not helped him yet.

The stock market went up 3 days in a row and the braves won their last two games (8 out of 9 games) so that is $5 to add to the challenge.

I hopoe some of you saw the Braves-Cubs game last night. I fell asleep because the braves were behind 5-1. Apparently, the braves scored 3 in the 8th and the score was 5-4.
There are two new brothers playing for the Braves; the Upton brothers.
Brother number one hit a home room in the 9th to ties up the game and brother number two hit a home run in the 9th to win the game. That made the record books! Another 2 games won this week for another $2 in the $20 challenge.

I tried out Melrose credit union a few years ago. That is when all the local banks stopped paying 4%. Melrose was offering 2.9% for 5 years, and I took it. I hate to tie money up for 5 years, but in this case it has turned out to be a good thing. I can't even get 1% locally now. They pay interest every quarter and this quarter I earned $1867.00 I wish I could add that to the challenge money!

Major league baseball has started back this week. I add $1 to the challenge every time the braves win and they won the first two. Now, if I could just keep up with the stock market every day!

I got a builder's discount which I forgot to add to my $20 challenge. It was for $108! I have not added to the challenge in a long time, so I am trying to play catch up.

I have not been blogging as much as usual and when that happens, I seem to get behind on money matters. It does not help that I have taken my car to the car dealership in another state 4 times this month.
I got caught up on my $30 a day savings goal and added $46 to week 8 of my 52 week challenge. I am up to $281 on that project!

I took my car into get the seat fixed on Friday. The driver's seat has never gone up and down. The seat works fine now, but somehow, I have lost the mirror on the passenger side. I am assuming that it just fell out some how! I am having it replaced next Tuesday, but I will have to pay for it. On a corvette, the price will be about $150 for the mirror.

I found my first money of 2013. I f ound a dime in the parking lot yesterday. Last year i found a grand total of $1.31, so I am on my way for this year with 10 cents! lucky March 13th!

This week I sent in $6000 to each of our IRA's. I figure it will help out with our taxes! I had to take money out of a mutual fund in December to help finish up the spec house. It is the first time I have ever taken money out, so I know I will have to pay capital gain tax on the money.

On Jan 28th, I started putting away $30 every day. (Into a tin with Elvis' picture on it) I have not yet missed a day. I have saved and deposited over $1000 into savings this week!

I am on week 6 of my 52 week challenge. This week I saved $28 for a grand total of $209 so far.

I did my grocery shopping today. I saved $4 using my Ingles advantage card, so I am adding that to my $20 challenge.

DH got a new house to build. It won't be a real big house. Actually, we built another house for this couple about 11 years ago and they still live in it. They want a vacation cabin now!
I guess they don't like driving too much cause the cabin will be in the same town as their main house.
Dh is getting ready to start another spec house and this cabin will be right next door. That's handy!

I am having my baby spayed today. I have to admit, I don't really like it. I did not have the last two poodles spayed. It scares me.They stay inside, so no chance they could get pregnant. I did get my Molly spayed. (maltese-poodle mix) Abbey is a maltese, 9 months old. I can hardly wait to go and pick her up. I hope she will recover quickly . I have no idea what this will cost.

I had to buy tag decals for all the cars last week. It came to $606.00 Ouch! That hurt!

This is week 5 of my 52 week challenge. This week, I was only able to add $24, but it is better than nothing, right!
