Foot doctor

September 5th, 2015 at 02:52 pm

My hubby has been limping for aa few months, so this week he went to the foot doctor. They gave him a shot and some insoles for his shoes, to the tune of $254. He felt better for a few days, but now he is limping again. They have suggest $400 custom made arch supports. I am not sure if he will spend the money. He goes back this Wed.

Odd coincidence, my hubby had to order those custom made ones this past week. Hope they work!

Did the specialist offer a specific diagnosis? DH had plantar fasciitis several years ago and the combination of stretcher exercises and an expensive, custom made insert was a nearly instant fix. It meant pulling out/detaching the insole, adding the custom insert and labelling inserts to know what belonged to which shoe. Changing out the insert from shoe to shoe caused endless gripping but DH totally balked on ordering a 2nd insert. I likely spent the equivalent buying any off the rack inserts that might help and did eventually find a weird fit.

Hubby with sore feet can be very cranky and obstinate. He wouldn't balk on buying prescription glasses as necessary and I'd say whatever is necessary to get his only pair of feet problem solved.

I had plantar fasciitis too (still do but barely feel it). I have inserts worth $50 and had to pay $80 to see a podiatrist, who gave me five different exercises to strengthen the foot arch. It's extremely painful but you can manage it.
