Property taxes

December 23rd, 2012 at 10:23 pm

My property taxes were due on Thursday and I paid them in person. It came to $3500, plus I have two more tax bills for other counties. I hate that the payments are right before christmas! The other two bills are due after the first of the year!
Christmas is very quiet this year. We may go out to dinner tomorrow night just cause I am so bored with sitting at home.
I have some more one dollar bills to add to the challenge.

Prev. total $10,935.00
today 5.00
new total $10,940.00

At least u will be able to claim it on your 2012 taxes. I'm going to pay my 2013 HOA dues early as well.

I like when our state's taxes are due. April and October (or just April if you are paying the whole year at once). I wouldn't want it near Christmas either.

Ours our due right before the end of January. If you're late, you get like an immediate 10% penalty, then they go up like 0.5% per month thereafter. We can pay them online, as well. Next year, I've hired an attorney to protest my tax valuation. I have to pay him half of what he gets cut off my taxes. I used to do the protest myself, but the last time I did it, they didn't even listen to me. My only recourse would have been to take them to court.

Your taxes are very close to mine, and I'll bet I have about one-fifth the space you have! That's city life. I'm paying in January, but I am hoping to get some kind of a break for seniors.

First of all, I'm so tired of the clown putting ads for shoes and boots in the comments! GRRRR!

Ima, that is a bummer the taxes are due right before Christmas. But, knowing you, you didn't have to scrimp and save for them...you had the money ready. Our tax bills come due the first of June and the first of September if you want to make two payments. We usually pay ours off in June and get it over with.

Rob, I am tired of it too and I always try to delete them. Yes, I put money away every week all year long for the taxes.

Carolina bound, the main tax for my 3000 sq. foot house is about $2500. The rest is on 5 pieces of property that we bought in the past two years. (to build on)
