Dinner out!

September 14th, 2012 at 03:37 pm

WE got invited out to dinner last Monday night! It was at the home of my bridge buddies and was one of the best meals I have ever tasted! Filet mignon, red potatoes and home made chocolate pie!

I really don't like to cook very much. Maybe cause I have been doing it for so many years??

Now, we just got invited out for tomorrow night's dinner. It will probably be an outside meal cause the weather has cooled off so much. We built a large house for this couple 11 years ago. However, last year they bought a tiny cabin (400 sq. ft.) just 5 miles from their house, and they go there a lot.

I love eating dinner somewhere else!

When you're invited to dinner at other people's homes, do you not expect to reciprocate by inviting them to home made dinner with trimmings to your home? If you dislike cooking can you choose 10 easy to prepare meals you like well enough to repeat? For example, there are about 70 different shapes/sized pasta that go with either red or white sauce. A couple of nice dinner rolls, a couple of pkgs of frozen veggies and salad in a bag takes less than 20 minutes kitchen time. Roasting a chicken or good cut of beef, pork or lamb takes 20 minute prep for accompanying root veggies. 20 more minutes give an enhanced cake mix dessert. If you prefer use fresh fruit + quality ice cream.

    What do you think?

We do have other people over but most of the time we fix something on the grill. My husband is a good cook, but he is also Mr. Fix it! A lot of times we get invited cause he has done something for them for free. This week he built the couple we will be seeing tonight, a new table.
