Dollar bill challenge!

I don't seem to be saving as much this year as I usually do. I read here somewhere that one person was saving all their dollar bills.
So, I have decided to do that too. And I challenge anyone else on here, to start setting aside all your dollar bills from at least now til the end of the year.
I already save all my change; now I am going to start saving all my one's!
I just checked my wallet and I have $9 in one's to add to the $20 challenge.

    I'll try it! We're trying to raise money to buy a new laptop, so maybe this will help me get there faster.

    Good idea Ima! I rarely have any cash...right now I have $9 ready for the boy scouts, but I better not raid that.

    I think it was Suze Orman whom I heard proposing this as a method of savings once.

    I've done it a lot through the years since first hearing her saying that, but never religiously.

    Go Ima. You know, you are making it terribly difficult for me to keep up! Big Grin hahaha!!

    We do all our household/grocery spending with the debit card, but we get our discretionary spending money in cash each week, so I'm going to try to weed out my $1s from that every night. I just checked my wallet and I had three $1s in there, so I put them in a little Elvis coin purse and tucked that in my underwear drawer. I still have $30 spending money,so I won't even miss it!

    ...and another way that this helps is that you'll often think twice about breaking a larger bill and sometimes you'll just walk away from a buying temptation because you're stoked about the savings opportunity of keeping your cash intact for something else later.

    Oh I do this trick! But mine is that I save every new color $5 bill that I come across and crisp $1 bills.Smile
