OMG

November 28th, 2008 at 05:03 pm

I just heard the news. Somewhere in New York, a 34 year old worker was trampled to death as he opened the doors at a Wal Mart store. Isn't that terrible. To think, that shopping means so much to so many, does not make sense to me.What a way to start the Christmas season. So sad.

    That's horrific.

I can't comprehend why people are so desperate to get shopping. Another reason to stay in today.

I just read that before I came here. The article I read on MSN.com also said in another place there was a woman that had a miscarriage because she got trampled!! And that people were STILL rushing in as emergency crews worked on these poor people.

And people ask why I never even really leave the house on Black Friday...

YEah, seems to happen every year locally. (Not always death, but plenty of injuries). I don't see the point. Not risking life and limb to save a few bucks.

My dh often goes but he is not an early bird and so waits for the initial trampling risk to go down before he ventures out anyway.

Horrible! I am avoiding the stores! Not for that reason, exactly, but I hate the "pack mentality" of shoppers on this day, especially!

Yes, I heard it on the news and was horrified. How utterly avoidable and such savage behavior on the part of the people trying to storm their way in to the store.

I heard about this too. It's so sad that a life is lost due to people being greedy and pushy.

I like to imagine I'm in Spain during the running of the bulls and then its kind of fun.
J/K Actually I work in the evening so the trampling risk is over with by then. But it was very busy and crazy all day. We apparently had some problems Thanksgiving night cause we opened up at Midnight but the Black Friday sales were still only at 5 am. So some people were fighting and trying to buy the stuff anyway.
