45 years ago today

November 22nd, 2008 at 04:09 pm

President Kennedy was killed. Most of you were not born, but if you were, you remember where you were when you heard the news. I was in college, but working full time as a cashier/bookkeeper at a restaurant across from the college. One of the cooks called the restaurant to tell us the terrible news. It was Nov. 22, 1963, the day before my birthday.

I was just 2 when it happened, so I do not remember it..but I think we all have seen clips from the event. A very sad day indeed.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!! I hope you enjoy your day tomorrow!

A sad day. I'm one of those who wasn't quite born yet. I came along the following year. For my generation, I think the pivotal events have been the Challenger disaster on 1/28/96 and, of course, 9/11/01. I know where I was for each of those.

    Have a happy birthday, Julie.

I was sitting in my 8th grade class, and someone came to the door and spoke to the teacher. I will never forget the look of grief and anguish on her face as broke the news to us. A somber quiet filled the room, followed by disbelief, then the tears flowed. I attended a Catholic school, and JFK was our hero.

    Happy Birthday tomorrow, Julie!

I of course wasn't quite born yet either, but have heard my dad tell stories about how his family reacted to those horrific events.

    Happy early birthday Ima!

I wasn't born yet. My Mums was a Sr in HS and my Dads was a Jr in HS. Like DisneySteve said, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when 9/11 happened. And I remember when the space shuttle exploded in 1986 I was in 2nd grade and we were watching it on tv.

    PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I was 2.5 at the time, and I remember I was in the living room playing and my dad was right there watching TV, and the news flash came on. My mom walked into the room then, and my dad told her what had happened. That is my only memory of the event. I live in Fort Worth now, and have driven past the "grassy knoll" many times, and also been to the Sixth Floor Museum. I was at work when the Challenger exploded, listening to it on the radio; and I was at home on 9/11 and had just turned on the radio that morning when news was first reported of the first plane hitting the WTC. One other "I'll never forget where I was when" moment is when John Lennon was shot. I was playing a game with my college roommate and some other friends, and Monday Night Football was on.

I hope you enjoy your birthday tomorrow, Julie!!

I was in a math class when the announcement of Pres. Kennedy's first announcement of the shooting took place. That day forever stands out in my mind and the expression on the faces of people around me. I just felt lost.

Happy Birthday Ima. Have a wonderful birthday and I hope a memorable one.

I was 4 years old, so i really don't remember it. I do remember where I was when John Lennon was killed, though, in 1981. I was sitting in my room in a house i shared with about 8 other college girls off campus.

What a tragedy and what wasted potential.
