When did this happen??

September 11th, 2008 at 02:38 pm

I decided to treat myself to lunch out yesteday since I had a bunch of errands to run and nothing at home to eat. I wanted my favorite food, a hamburger. So, I stopped at Burger King.
When did a whopper Jr. go from $1 to $1.50? I could not believe that I paid that much for such a tiny hamburger. It sure is NOT a whopper! It is tiny!
I got my last one on memorial day and it was $1.
I did buy a frozen pie and had a $1 off coupon, so I will add that money to my challenge money.
Prev. total $20,584.00
today 1.00
new total $20,585.00

You should only be able to post $.50 to the challenge since you paid an extra $.50 on the burger.
I won't order that anymore then, since I like them too and a real whopper is too big for my portioning.

Yeah, I noticed that even burgers are getting expensive. Cost of beef maybe.

LOL! ...the office hosted a small reception in July, and we will have another one soon. I still had the caterer's quote from July, but I asked for a new one because I needed some additional service...their prices have gone up...just to give you an example, their mini-sandwiches were $46.50/ 100 units...now they are $52/ 100 units!

It is crazy how much food is...either you buy it and make it at home or eat out. I can't understand why things are going up so much and don't give me.. gas is why...Yikes!

I really worry about what the holidays will be like for some people. What will a turkey dinner cost???

Julia can give us some of your hints for saving money?

I have been reading all the money blogs and....they have going crazy trying to think of great ideas to save and eat and have fun. We can't have it all...eat, buy gas and have fun we just don't have it all in the budgetSmile
    Much Love,

    Renee

The price of beef has gone up a lot. The increased cost of corn, because of ethanol, has caused farmers to pay much more to feed cattle. The cost of fuel to transport beef, and everything else, has to be recovered by the trucking firms. WE get to pay for all of the increased costs of production. It is getting scary. I paid bills today, and felt depressed at how much everything has gone up.

Renee, I keep my electric bill down by turning off the hot water heater unless we are taking a shower or running the dishwasher.

You might want to look at my blog post for today - (click on my name)- I have a list of restaurants where you can sign up for free food on your birthday. (Some of these places will send you free stuff even when it's not your birthday.)

Its crazy- even Save-A-Lot's prices have increased. I like Whoppers, but haven't had one in a while- I try not to eat much red meat.
