Filled up for $9.

June 22nd, 2008 at 04:48 pm

I filled my gas tank yesterday and only spent $9. However, I only got 2.1 gallons of gasoline. I have decided that if I fill up more often, it will seem less painful.
My dh said he bet the gas station attendant thought that was all I could afford, $9. Now why would I care if the gas station attendant thought I was rich or poor? I guess it does matter to some people. Not to me!!
I won 5 games of mah jong yesterday, so I will add that $5 to my $20 challenge.
Prev. total $15,655.00
today 5.00
new total $15,660.00

I do the same thing. I never let it get below 1/4 tank and then add $20 or less which is only about 5 gallons. I should probably fill up to feel the pain and hope it will cause me to drive less. But thats too depressing.

I am curious. I just came upon you're blog and am seeing this $20 challenge and you winning at Mahjong? Someone care to explain to me... I am very curious. I am becoming my mother and watching on things I spend and how to save and so forth

When I read the title of your post I thought, "She must be talking about her lawn mower!" Big Grin

Jessica, when we start on the $20 challenge, we chose the rules. My rule is, I save $1 for every mile I walk, every time the braves win, every time the stock market goes up and every game of mahjong that I win. I also save all coupon saving money, chase reward checks, and any other unexpected checks that come in. It adds up.

Oh I see, pretty smart really. I'm a college student that just went into my own apartment and coming up on getting a student loan. I'm a finance major and I'm looking for ways so that I can save some of my money. You're ideas are great. I started a blog this afternoon, thought I would kind of do the same thing, keep track of my savings from random things that I do.
    Thank You

I always fill my tank every time I stop for gas. It doesn't make sense to me to only get a few dollars worth at a time. The gas prices are painful no matter how you look at it!! Just my opinion.

There is an old saying in Italy... "What do I care what the price of gas is? I only put $10 in anyway."
