new house interview

March 14th, 2008 at 01:34 pm

We went to talk to a couple about building a house, yesterday afternoon. We have really loved building spec houses. That way we could build a house the way we wanted to and they all sold quickly.
However, there are now 700 houses for sale in our small area (county population is 19,000) so we do not need to do any more spec houses for a while.
So, we are back to building custom homes but right now, no one is building anything.
so, we don't know yet if we have this house to build or not.
We are working on a big house now, so dh is staying busy for now. We just don't know what the future will bring.
So far, we are not too worried, but it would be nice to get another house to start on. Keeping fingers crossed!!

Good luck!!! But, it sounds like your husband has a great reputation and doesn't need luck.

Ima, the type of house your husband is building, if i may ask, how much would it sell for? if it is to personal, please excuse the question and no offense intended.

I applied for several jobs in North Carolina and georgia and i am trying to place housing prices.

The house he is building now is huge, and it is price at $799,000, It is 4600 square feet and on a premium lot with a mountain view, a lake view and on a creek. (very rare around here, a $200,000 lot)
Our last two big spec houses went for $400,000 and $280,000 (mountain view lots) Our mountain view cabins went for under $200,000. so prices really vary.
