Free deodorant

January 12th, 2008 at 03:29 pm

I got a sample of a new deodrant in the mail yesterday. I get to try it out and then take a survey on it, in about 2 weeks. It is a win-win. I already got paid for a survey, I got the deodrant for free and I will get paid for a follow up survey.
Of course, it is not a whole lot of money, but as we have all really learned these past 2 years, a dollar at a time (or two or three) really turns into big bucks after time.
I have always been a saver, but I am so glad that this site came up with the $20 challenge two years ago. It has really helped me to save more than ever!!

Julie, I'm a freebie and sample freak and because of that haven't bought deodorant in about a year now. I also get a lot of shampoo/conditioner samples but because my hair is the way it is, I can't use some of them. Other people do, though. Smile
I noticed somewhere on your blog (but I don't remember where) you mentioned you've always been a minimum wage earner - at least I think that was you! I want to pick your brain! lol

Yes, I have never made more than minimum wage. Even as a waitress, I worked in a real hick town that did not believe in tipping!!

I do agree with you about using the test products. I don't want to mention the company, but I do the same. I do a survey, get paid, occasionally receive a product based on the survey I took, use the product, and get paid to do another survey. I have actually liked one or two of the products that I tested and would buy them in the future. It's like you said, you take small amounts and they add up over time.

I think that Jeffrey's whole point of the 20 challenge was to start off with a small amount and to make it grow into something else.

Sounds like waitressing around here. Well, people do believe in tipping but the tip is almost always $1 per customer unless one works at one of the really upscale places and then it's more. But tips don't amount to a heck of a lot around here.

So, tell me what all you've done to get where you are! I read your blog entries faithfully so I know you're frugal but you also have apparently invested well. Did you save your pennies til you had enough to invest? I keep telling you I want to be like you when I grow up and I mean it. But I'm already 45! Is it too late for me? Naaah, can't be! Smile
