Things I wish I had known when I was younger!

December 16th, 2007 at 06:42 pm

Stuff! I wish I had known that I don't need so much stuff!
I watch everyone around me running around like crazy, shopping, shopping, buy more stuff to give to everyone on their list!
At what age do you finally realize that you really don't need any more "stuff"? I know people that are even my age, but still spend all their free time shopping and buy more stuff.
Do you remember what you get for christmas? Most people don't, cause they get stuff that they really don't want.

I did some collecting of things when I was younger and now I am stuck with all this stuff!

If and when I ever move again to a new house, I am getting rid of most of this stuff!!

I think I have finally learned my lesson, but I wish I had learned it a long time ago!

    Hehe, me too.

I'm trying to keep my life "clean" now, surrounded only with things that are meaningful to me and doesn't clutter too much.

I just sent 4 bags to goodwill and I hope I don't get anything for Christmas. LOL. Amen. I also shipped a bunch of stuff to my sister because she loves "stuff."

For me the age was probably 26 or 27. But I think that's kind of rare. Wink I think my mom and I just kind of got on the same page. She's 55 I guess. We all learn at our own pace. But I think eventually most of us learn. ?? Maybe?

We had a garage sale, what did not sell the first 2 hours, we put in a big pile and said, free!! Take it. You will be surprised what some people will take. We got rid of 30 cans of opened paint. (My dh is a builder and does his own painting too)

I have always liked the feeling of going on vacation and seeing how simple but yet elegant the rooms are. One day it dawned on me that it was the simplicity and not cluttered. It gave me a feeling of peace. I always come back home with an idea I have borrowed from these places. When I start thinking about what if I move; I realize that I need to get rid of a lot of stuff. Some of it belongs to my sons that is still here. I have always been sentimental so I, naturally keep alot of momentos. Not so much anymore. I tell those who want to bring a souvenir back to me to bring some kind of food jar or something they are known for.
