I did something today that I do not do very often; I went shopping.
I went shopping for baby clothes. My oldest granddaughter is having her baby shower this weekend and I wound up buying the new baby 4 new outfits. Now, I don't really believe that babies need a lot of clothes; they out grow them too quickly.
I do admit that I did my shopping at the dollar store. I think they have some cute things, but inexpensive. I am not really being cheap. I am going to give her a check to buy the things she really needs. (like diapers and formula) Gosh, it is expensive to have a baby these days.
Did anyone besides me use cloth diapers??

In an emergency situation, I once took care of a one year old who came with only, gosh, I think it was 3 cloth diapers! I'd change her, immediately hand wash the dirty, wring it as thoroughly as possible, and hang it to dry on the warm radiator. That was back in the day of bird's-eye cotton diapers and big safety pins. I took care of her for five days like that. Young, dumb and poor, I could not even have bought more diapers and it didn't occur to me to ask anyone for help....Later that baby was the first person to give a welcoming gift to my own newborn child.
So when do you expect to be a GREAT-grandma?
