Foreclosures

May 6th, 2010 at 01:36 pm

Even a year and a half later, our little paper is still full of foreclosure notices. I live in a small country town, and I am amazed at how many names I recognize in these notices.
Yesterday, a friend of mine was listed as a new foreclosure. I would never dream in a million years, that this couple would be foreclosed on.
They are both college graduates, own their own business, dine out all the time, go on lots of vacations and stay in 5 star resorts. They live (or did) the good life.
I am so sorry to see so many families suffering.

I have 4 one dollar bills to add to my challenge money.
Prev. total $9184.00
today 4.00
new total $9188.00

Foreclosures are unfortunate, but sometimes they are a fact of life, especially if one lives beyond their means. I know there are people who had a bad hand dealt to them and they had to go into foreclosure. Yet there are others who could have prevented it by cutting back and chose not to.

I inadvertantly directed a processes server to my neighbors house the other night. He asked me where a certain address was and I told him. He then told me he was serving foreclosure papers on him. It was 10:00 p.m. which I thought was a little strange. He said he got the order at 8:00 p.m. They sure move fast. I felt really bad about it. This guy is 61 yrs old

That is unfortunatle. However, I ran into some couples who turned in foreclosure paperwork even though they could pay the monthly payments. They think they be ahead of the game to bow out. Not that I agree with it but I think that is also what keeps the foreclosure rate so high.
